About

Hi, I’m Kira Rauner, a 23-year-old underwater photographer and videographer from Germany.

My journey into the underwater world began when I became a Divemaster in Thailand — a life-changing experience that sparked not only my love for the ocean but also my passion for capturing its beauty. What started as a fascination quickly evolved into a career, as I found myself drawn to the art of storytelling through imagery beneath the surface.

Today, I work with a Sony A7R IV in an Isotta housing, paired with Sea & Sea strobes, allowing me to bring the vibrant colors and hidden details of marine life to light. Whether it's documenting tiny critters on a reef or exploring deeper, lesser-seen environments, my goal is always the same: to create images that connect people with the ocean — emotionally, visually, and viscerally.

I’m also a technical diver, certified all the way to Extended Range, which allows me to explore more challenging and remote dive sites. These dives offer not only unique photographic opportunities but also the sense of calm, focus, and closeness to nature that first drew me to the water.

For me, the underwater world is more than a workplace — it’s a sanctuary. It’s where I feel most at peace, and most inspired.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my work. I hope my images help you feel a little closer to the magic of the ocean.
